PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply zigzag bending work to a filter material web with an accurate pleat pitch as well as with high efficiency without damage in the web. ;SOLUTION: This method is to bend in zigzag a filter material web whose protruding part is subjected to embossing finish in a bend wall along a bending line in the width direction so that adjacent protruding parts of bend wall abut on each other. In bending the filter material web W1 to be delivered out of a pleating roll while downward pleats are supported on the transport surface of a conveyor 26, following bend walls are pressure held by air jet streams 31a, 31b so that the protruding parts of adjacent bend walls are made to abut on each other in a face-to-face manner.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
