PURPOSE:To attain the vectorization of high quality by executing the linear approximation of a line segment, which is sectioned by the nodal point of a line picture to be inputted, and moving the nodal point of the approximated line segment in one side with corresponding to relation with the other line segment which is connected to the nodal point. CONSTITUTION:According to a command which is inputted from a tablet 8, a processor 1 processes an input picture on a picture memory 5 and executes raster/vector conversion. In such constitution, when the line picture is inputted, the linear approximation to the line segment is executed in each line segment which is sectioned by the respective nodal points to exist in this line picture. The nodal point is moved with corresponding to the relation between the nodal point in the other side of the other line segment, which is connected through the nodal point in arbitrary one side of the line segment subjected to the linear approximation, and the line segment. Then, shaping is executed between the respective line segments. Thus, exact correction can be executed respectively to distortion, which is generated when the raster/vector conversion processing is executed, and vectorization of a high quality can be executed.
