PURPOSE:To obtain a Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) film, composed of a specific terminal double bond-containing N-acyl-p-nitroaniline, formed by a Langmuir-Blodgett method and capable of providing a homogeneous organic thin-film structure suitable for nonlinear optical elements. CONSTITUTION:An LB film produced by developing a terminal double bond- containing N-acyl-p-nitroaniline expressed by the formula (n is 12-28) on the surface of water by a Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) method, applying a pressure from the transverse direction, regularly orienting molecules, pulling up the resultant film onto a solid substrate, such as glass substrate, and producing the monomolecular LB film without causing aggregation of the molecules. A thin-film structure having a polar structure suitable for optical-optical conversion elements, etc., is obtained from the resultant LB film, cumulative film prepared by cumulating the above-mentioned LB films or a polymer film obtained by exposing the aforementioned LB film and cumulative film to ultraviolet rays, radiation, etc., and carrying out polymerization.
