In the present invention, there is disclosed a peptide having the following amino acid sequence I, Xe1HXe2DGSFSDEMNTXe3LDXe4LAXe5Xe6DFINWLXe7Xe8TKITDXe9, wherein Xe1 represents NHi2, DFPEEVAIVEELGRR, DFPEEVTIVEELGRR, DFPEEVNIVEELRRR, Xe2 denotes Ala or Gly, Xe3 represents Ile or Val, Xe4 stands for Asn, Ser or His, Xe5 represents Ala or Thr, Xe6 represents Arg or Lys, Xe7 represents Ile or Leu, Xe8 denotes Gln or His and Xe9 represents OH, Lys, Arg, Arg-Lys, Lys-Arg, Arg-Arg or Lys-Lys, with deletion of certain sequences. There is also disclosed a pharmaceutical composition containing the above-described peptide or a fraction thereof suppressing appetite. Also described is the use of the said pharmaceutical composition for the prophylaxis or treatment of diseases or disorders associated with impaired appetite regulation.
