The present invention relates to a value and/or a security product with at least primary substance introduced in the value product and/or the security product or applied to the value product and/or the security product, in particular value products such as bank notes, check forms, shares, personal documents, credit and check cards etc. Known value and security products contain for the most part optically visible security characteristics, which do not afford sufficient security against forgery. To enhance security against forgery, the invention envisages that the primary substance is present in solid, liquid or gaseous state and by a targeted supply of power is either decomposed or non-decomposed, transferred, at least partially to a gaseous secondary substance and/or it is at least partially releasable as a gaseous secondary substance, whereby at least a portion of the secondary substance can be analyzed as a security character. The method for making the same is characterized in that a solid, liquid or gaseous primary substance being introduced into a value and/or a security product or applied to the value product and/or the security product is at least partially transferred by the action of a power supplied in targeted manner thereto, in either decomposed or non-decomposed state, to a gaseous secondary substance and/or it is at least partially releasable as a gaseous secondary substance, whereby at least a portion of the secondary substance is subsequently analyzed as a security character.
