1. A process for thermal treatment or refractory gold ores, comprising from 0.01 to 1.0 wt% of arsenopyrite, from 1 to 3.3 wt% of pyrite, from 0.02 to 0.1 wt% of carbon, from 0.1 to 5.0 wt% of CaCO3, MgCO3 and/or CaCO3 in which content of arsenopyrite, pyrite and organic carbon is not enough to generate the required heat for reaction, wherein the process takes place in an oxidizing atmosphere as fuel, water and steam are added to such amount that the content of water steam in outgoing gas is between 10 and 30%. 2. The process of Claim 1, wherein 15% of water or water steam are substituted by one or plurality of hydrocarbons, in particular kerosene or benzine.
