A characteristic of a device for growing plants formed in accordance with the invention, is that the growing device comprises said growing space (150) which has a bottom (120) and/or border, which is made of water-permeable material, in order to keep the substance in the growing space in the growing device and for conducting the water from the water basin up to the growing space (150) and to the substance (160) in it.
