The plate has a top walking surface (18) provided with apertures and stuck onto a smooth base plate (12). The walking surface can be composed of various different shaped layers (18). The top surface (18) can have a mesh structure formed from webs (22) connected together defining two-dimensional geometric shapes. The webs have a flat adhesive surface and on their side facing the base plate have cross grooves. An adhesive layer or foil may be placed between the base plate and top surface. Only partial areas of the base plate need be provided with the top surface
