Air conditioning system for surgical operating theatre

Filtered sterile air is fed into the operating theatre via a plenum in the ceiling. The air which flows down onto the operating table in the centre of the room is cooler than the air from the plenum outlet nearer the wall of the room. This creates at least three zones with different temperatures. The temperature differences ensure that air flows away from the table and leaves the room via vents at the top and bottom of the outside walls.
