PROCESS OF FIRE FIGHTING, LEAKAGE REMOVAL AND LIQUID GAS RECOVERY FROM LIQUID GAS TANKS

The invention relates to a process of fire fighting, leakage removal and liquid gas recovery from liquid gas tanks which is applicable to both liquid gas storage at positive temperatures in static or mobile tanks such as tank waggons or tank cars wi th possible lack of tightness at the bottom, up to the first stopper, resulting in leakage of gas that may or may not catch fire and to cases where there is no leakage but regular inspection is to take place; the process consists of feeding water to thetank at a pressure 5...6 barr higher than the pressure of the liquid gas in the tank, water replacing the liquid gas which is discharged through the pipe equalizing pressure in another tank, water being fed for replacement until it flows beyond the tightless area thereby extinguishing fire, the flammable fluid being replaced by water while for the complete recovery of the tank content water is fed at the top, the water flow rate being higher than the flow rate discharged in the tightl ess area.
