The invention refers to a variety of autumn barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) named Orizont, obtained through hybridization followed by the repeated selection from the hybrid combination 1594-78 x F 123-79, recommended for cultivation in all areas in which the autumn barley is grown in the country. The Orizont barley variety is represented by semi-erect plants, with leaves of medium width, with a light green colour. It has a good resistance (tolerant) to leaf damage and airborne fungus (smut), with a stable and high production rate per unit of surface area. The ear is loose, of medium size, with long and rugged aristae. The grain is elliptically shaped, covered in a golden yellow colour, and the weight of 1000 grains is 44 - 46 g. The base sheaf is long with a thickening at the insertion point, and is thin at the tip with a long and open bush. The vegetation period is 235 - 238 days, and the grain contains 12.8 percent protein and 62.5 percent starch. This variety can be cultivated in all areas where autumn barley is cultivated in the country.
