PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently lower sulfuric acid and sulfuric anhydride in a combustion gas of a boiler or the like fueled with a fossil fuel by adding an SO3 decreasing agent to the combustion gas and reducing sulfuric acid and sulfuric anhydride contained in the combustion gas. ;SOLUTION: An SO3 decreasing agent is added to a combustion gas of a boiler and H2SO4 and SO3 in the combustion gas are reduced to H2SO3 and SO2 and to decrease H2SO4 and SO3 in the combustion gas. As the SO3 decreasing agent to be used, hydrogen gas is suitable from a viewpoint of reactivity. Concretely, an SO3 decreasing agent supply apparatus 11 for adding hydrogen gas as an H2SO4 and SO3-decreasing agent is installed in the point where the concentrations of H2SO4 and SO3 are increased, that is the upstream side of an air preheating apparatus 7 and the downstream side of a denitration catalyst 6 in a flue 5 of a boiler and the SO3 decreasing agent addition point is preferably set at a point in the downstream side of a combustion apparatus where the combustion gas temperature is within 300-1,000°C.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
