INKING FOR COLOR-INKJET PRINTERS, USING NON- INTEGRAL DROP AVERAGES, MEDIA-VERYING INKING, OR MORE THAN 2 DROPS/PIXEL

A method of printing chromatic colour images by binaryconstruction from individual ink drops deposited in pixelarrays is disclosed. The method comprises establishing atleast one primary or secondary chromatic colour requiringbinary printing as a predetermined fixed number of drops ofink exceeding two per pixel, receiving information about adesired image to be printed, determining for each pixel ofthe image a specific primary or secondary colour, and; ifthe determined colour is an established colour requiringbinary printing as a predetermined fixed number of dropsexceeding two per pixel, applying to that pixel thepredetermined fixed number of drops of ink. The method canuse three bit-binary colour-reproduction systems with threeindependent chromatic inks, also the influence ofneighbouring pixels and different printing media propertiescan be taken into account. Further, the establishedcolour(s) may be determined to require postrenditionsuperpixel treatment.
