HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL PASSENGER TRANSPORT

Horizontal and Vertical Passenger TransportElevator cabs are transferred between elevators,which may be shuttles, in various levels of abuilding, such as transport floors, in response to carcalls registered in the cabs and hall calls registeredon the transport floors. The cabs may be transferredfrom carriages or bogeys onto elevator car frames in alateral direction, which is perpendicular to themotion of the cab on a carriage or bogey, or in alongitudinal direction which is the same as thedirection of motion of a cab on a carriage or bogey.The horizontal/vertical control and transfer may beeffected in response to the arrival at transportfloors of elevators having cabs therein, or inresponse to the arrival at an elevator of a bogeycarrying a cab which must be transported between atransport floor on one level of a building and atransport floor on another level of a building, inorder to serve the need of a car call registeredtherein or a hall call. The horizontal transportationmay occur on transport floors within a building, ormay extend between different building segments orbetween different buildings.(Figure No. 2)
