METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING A DIGITAL BROADBAND SIGNAL IN A TRIBUTARY UNIT CONCATENATION VIA A NETWORK OF A SYNCHRONOUS DIGITAL MULTIPLEX HIERARCHY

Method for transmitting a digital broadband signal in atributary unit concatenation via a network of a synchronous digitalmultiplex hierarchy. A pointer for positional identification ina frame is allocated to the first tributary unit in a tributaryunit concatenation; instead of a pointer, the further tributaryunits receive a concatenation indicator. Every cross-connectequipment along a transmission link recognizes the tributary unitconcatenation and forwards the tributary units thereof in thecorrect sequence. When a clock matching is required in the caseof a first tributary unit, a pointer skip is initiated at allfurther tributary units. This requires hardware and software.This is eliminated when all tributary units (TU-12 1 throughTU-12 5) containing the broadband signal (DSa) have a pointer (PTR1through PTR5) having the value of the positional identification ofthe first tributary unit (TU-12 1) allocated to them. Theindividual tributary units (TU-12 1 through TU-12 5) can then passthe cross-connect equipment, if necessary with an individualpointer skip (PS), independently of one another. A restoration ofthe tributary unit concatenation occurs at the reception side afterthe recognition of the pointers (PTR1 through PTR5) in that leadingtributary units (TU-12 2, TU-12 5) are delayed by delay elements(L2, L5).
