A coiled steel strip for the manufacture of athree-piece can body having, on one surface corresponding tothe outer surface of the can body, a multiple-layerorganic film including a thermoplastic resin layer and alayer of inks arranged on said thermoplastic resin layerto represent a label of a content to be filled in thecan, and on the other surface corresponding to the innersurface of the can body, a film or films of athermosetting coating and/or a thermoplastic resin, saidmultiple layer organic film extending continuously alongthe length direction of said strip in a plurality ofstripes, each having a width slightly smaller than thecircumferential length of the can body and being arrangedsuch that said strip has spaces of a width of 1 to 10 mmat both sides of each such stripe, free from coverage bysaid organic film, and said film or films of athermosetting coating and/or a thermoplastic resinextending continuously along the length direction of saidstrip in a plurality of stripes, each having a widthslightly smaller than the circumferential length of thecan body and being arranged in alignment with said stripeof said multiple layer organic film back to back on therespective surfaces of said strip, as well as theproduction of the steel strip sheet, and a resistanceseam welded three-piece can body.
