The invention relates to a foil as a cover for animpression cylinder in rotary offset perfecting presses,which consists of a rigid support layer resistant tochemicals and wear and with good ink transfer behavior,said foil having a calotte-structured surface ofstatistically uniformly distributed convex and concavestructural elements and a chromium layer which forms thesheet-guiding outer cylindrical surface of the impressioncylinder and has a microroughness-reducing effect, and asheet is supported by the poles of the convex structuralelements thereof. These convex structural elements have anoval shape, with the radius of curvature from pole topassage into the concave structural elements becominggradually larger.
