METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT ACROSS PROCESS BOUNDARIES IN A DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM

The present invention provides a method and system in a dataprocessing system, having a multitasking operating systemwhich includes a plurality of processes, for providingcommunication between objects executing within the processesin the multitasking operating system, the method and systemincludes registering an object within a communicationsmanager in response to a launching of the object. Thecommunications manager monitors all objects registered withthe communications manager within the plurality ofprocesses. A determination of whether a first object isregistered is made utilizing the communications manager, inresponse to receiving a request from a second object to senda message to the first object. Automatic initiation of thelaunching the first object within the processes is performedif the first object is unregistered utilizing thecommunications manager. Next, the first process containingthe first object is bound to the second process containingthe second object, wherein a communications path isestablished between the first process and the second of theprocess. The message is sent to the first object from thesecond object via the established communications pathbetween the two processes, wherein communication between thefirst object and the second object is automaticallyestablished.
