PAIP, A NOVEL HUMAN PROTEIN WHICH BRIDGES THE 3' AND 5' END OF MRNA, AND USE THEREOF AS A TARGET FOR TRANSLATIONAL MODULATION TO TREAT HUMAN DISEASE
The present invention relates to the process of proteinsynthesis in eukaryotic cells. More particularly, the present inventionrelates to translation and more specifically to the initiation of translationin such cells. More specifically, the present invention relates to proteinsinvolved in the initiation of translation in animal cells, to the modulationoftranslation thereby and to the coupling of the 3' and 5' ends mRNA by theproteins of the present invention. The present invention also relates toisolated nucleic acid molecules encoding a human protein, a bindingProtein-Interacting Protein (PAIP), as well as vectors, host cells harboringsame. In addition, the present invention relates to screening assays foridentifying modulators of PAIP activity.
