The invention relates to novel seco compounds from a class of tylosins represented bya general formula I(see fig. I)whereinR stands for H or CH3,R1 stands for H, CH3, C1-C3 acyl or aryl sulfonyl,R2 stands for H and R3 stands for NH2 or OH, or R2 and R3 together stand for O orNOH,R4 stands for H or C1-C3 acyl,and the line - - - - stands for a double or a single bond,and to a process for their preparation.By the reaction of oximation of 4'-demicarosyl-8a-aza-8a-homorelomycin a breakingof lactams occurs and the obtained seco compound can optionally be subjected toreactions of reductive N-alkylation or to a conversion of hydroxyimino group into ketogroup and then optionally to N- or N,O-acylation, a catalytical hydrogenation of thedouble bond or a reduction of the ketone or a reduction of the hydroxyimino groupinto amino group.
