Remedies for primary biliary cirrhosis containing as the main ingredient L-alanine or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt. These remedies can lower thetotal serum bilirubin level and lower the transaminase level, thereby enablingthe efficient cure of primary biliary cirrhosis. They can be continuouslytaken over a long time and exert therapeutic effects exceeding those achievedby the conventional medical drug therapy.
