The invention relates to novel sequence variants of the human beta2-adrenergic receptor gene and to their use for diagnosing a range of diseases, especially for detecting a predisposition to high blood pressure, for diagnosing reactivity to therapeutic agents where this varies from one case to the next, and for developing therapeutic agents on the basis of pharmacogenetic principles.
