Activated nutshell carbons with enhanced removal of polar organics

Activated carbons derived from lignocellulosic nutshell waste, and for use in absorption of polar organic compounds, are prepared utilizing carbon dioxide or steam activation at 800 DEG C to 900 DEG C for 3 to 8 hours and subsequent oxidation with air at 260 DEG C to 400 DEG C for 3 to 6 hours.
