The present invention provides an intraurethral urinary control catheter including a urine flow controlling valve and a self-sealing microvalve for enabling and facilitating the use of a blunt needle or cannula for filling and emptying the balloon. The microvalve enables the needle or cannula to enter the inflation tube of the catheter with minimal resistance, yet adequately seals when the balloon is full and the needle or cannula is removed.
