The present invention is an eight-sided carton (20) and a blank (200) therefor. The carton (20) has eight side panels (34-48), a gable top structure (32) and an inverse pyramidal bottom (114). The carton (20) may have an octagonal cross section. A plurality of diagonal score lines (88-98 and 142-156) provide for a graceful transition from the gable top structure (32) to the side panels (34-48), and from the side panels (34-48) to the inverse pyramidal bottom (114). The blank (200) has a plurality of vertical score lines (250-262) which form the edges (50-56) and the apices (60-64) of the eight-sided carton (20).
