USE OF CURCUMIN IN TREATMENT OF PSORIASIS, INFLAMMATION, SKIN WOUNDS, BURNS, AND ECZEMAS

Am improved method for prevention, treatment, or control of inflammation, as well as of psoriasis and of skin conditions such as acne, wounds, burns, or eczemas, sun damage of the skin, and premature aging, is based on inhibiting the activity of phosphorylase kinase; when skin conditions are treated, phosphorylase kinase in the affected epidermis is inhibited. This method comprises the step of treating a mammal with curcumin in a quantity sufficient to detectably inhibit phosphorylase kinase activity. Typically, the curcumin is administered in a topical gel. The curcumin can be administered along with other compounds that affect phosphorylation.
