The detection method is used to detect the position of defined mobile objects, with the travel path of the load cable for the crane lifting mechanism, the travel path of the crane and the travelling carriage used as absolute values for a graphic display used as a visual aid by the crane driver. The momentary position of the object, e.g. the load reception device is determined by comparing a momentary image and a preceding image.
