The grain density determination system has a rigid 'T'- shaped piece placed where it will be exposed to impact from the granular material as it is thrown outward by a rotating spreading disc (2a). The material of the 'T'-shaped piece is chosen so the impact of the grains generates a sound. The centre of the 'T' is aligned radially to the disc. The cross of the 'T' is supported on posts (4). The head of each post carries a microphone . The signals from the microphones are sent to an electronic signal processing circuit (5) mounted directly above the microphone. The density of the grains is determined from the resulting signal, and the delivery or spreading of the grains controlled accordingly. IMAGE
