The tool has a housing with 2 compartments respectively containing the electric drive motor and the drive mechanism for rotating the tool holder which is fitted directly to the drive output shaft. The tool insert (100) fitted into the tool holder has a machining surface for grinding, filing or polishing the workpiece (110), with a guide attached to the tool housing for guiding the displacement relative to the workpiece surface. Pref. the guide uses a guide plate (11) with a flat surface for displacement of the tool across the surface of the machined workpiece, supported by a pivot fixing allowing it to be angled relative to the tool displacement axis.
