A luminance and color signal separation method and a separation circuit capable of separating luminance and color signals from a composite video signal without crosstalk and compensating for a high frequency portion having a vertical frequency of more than a predetermined level to improve image quality are disclosed . When the vertical frequency of the luminance signal is a high frequency band, it can be corrected to improve the image quality.
