By using intermediate servers or intermediate proxies, communication via one or more firewalls is possible by Light Security Tunneling Protocol (LSTP). Three proxies are used to establish an end-to-end connection for navigation through the fire wall. In a typical configuration, the servers behind the first fire month and the clients behind the second fire month are interconnected by an untrusted network (e.g., the Internet) between the fire walls. The final proxy on the first SOCKS recognition server side is connected to the server inside the first fire wall. The second SOCKS aware client side final proxy is connected to the inside of the second flower wall by the client. Both the server-side and client-side end proxies can address the third proxy (called an intermediate proxy) outside of the two firewalls. The intermediate proxy is typically started first, and the other two final proxies (server and client) initiate a connection to the intermediate proxy after a certain time after they are started. The intermediate proxy can address each other with both internal proxies, so that a complete end-to-end connection between the server and the client is established. Establishing secure communication links or tunnels across multiple fire months is one or more intermediate proxies with LSTP.
