In order to obtain improved readability of the liquid crystal display screen under the changed conditions of ambient visual sensitivity, it is possible to increase the dynamic range of the change of polarization voltage. In order to avoid this phenomenon, it is proposed to shift this range towards higher voltages if the peripheral vision is increased, or to lower voltages, or if the peripheral vision is decreased, without modulating the dynamic range of the change in polarization voltage.
