The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of polysiloxane microspheres of narrow size distribution having a particle size of from about 0.5 to about 10 microns. The first step involves preparing a primary aqueous mixture by mixing an optional anionic surfactant, a polymeric stabilizer, a hydroxide base and water, and adding a silane monomer thereto to prepare a secondary aqueous mixture. The secondary aqueous mixture is then stirred for at least about 1 hour at a temperature of from about 5 to about 90C to produce an aqueous dispersion comprising polysiloxane microspheres. The separated polysiloxane microspheres are then optionally washed with water and optionally dried at a temperature of less than about 300C. The polysiloxane microspheres may optionally be further jet treated to obtain polysiloxane microspheres of narrow particle size distribution with a particle size ranging from about 0.5 to about 10 microns.
