The present invention relates to a manufacturing system and a method for assembling a computer system in a customized environment.;In accordance with the present invention, a historically organized unit-by-unit fabrication and assembly system and method for a computer system or other product is effectively integrated into a customized environment. In accordance with the received order, a kit tray for supporting each component or component necessary for manufacturing the ordered product is prepared. The kit tray is delivered to the work cell where the team assembles the product. The product is then tested and repaired with information about the problem provided to the responsible work cell.
