FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; may be used in performance of repairs of lining of oxygen steel-making converters. SUBSTANCE: method includes leaving of slag of previous heat, top supply of neutral gas through lance to apply slag to converter internal walls with varying height of lance. Introduced into slag are carbonate materials with carbon content of above 0.12% in metal at turning down before tapping of previous heat form converter, or carbonate and carbon-containing materials with carbon content of 0.6-0.12% in metal at turning down before tapping of previous heat from converter, or carbon-containing materials with carbon content in metal less than 0.06% at turning down before tapping of previous heat from converter. In so doing, introduced into slag are carbonate materials in the amount of 15-25% and carbon-containing materials of 5-10% of slag weight. Produced slag melt is agitated with mixture of oxygen and neutral gas in ratio of 1:(0.35-0.85) for 1-7% of duration of main oxygen blowing with subsequent application of the mixture to converter lining by jets of neutral gas with its flow rate equalling 100-200% of nominal flow rate of main oxygen blowing.
