FIELD: structures incorporating fissionable materials such as subcritical fuel assemblies and fuel elements. SUBSTANCE: fuel assembly is exposed to primary radiation pulse flux so as to induce fission processes and inelastic neutron-neutron interactions in it. Primary radiation pulse length is 5-50 ns, pulse repetition rate is 100-10 000 Hz. Recording time and energy are measured during 200-2000 ns relative to primary radiation pulse for every detected gamma- quantum which are separated from neutrons with respect to transit time of specified base. Mentioned recording time and energy for every gamma-quantum are stored so that data on gamma-quantum energy can be readily obtained. EFFECT: improved accuracy of determining fuel assembly parameters and its elementary composition. 3 dwg
