FIELD: oil and industry. SUBSTANCE: in first version of method new cable is connected with end of worn cable, connecting link, thus formed, is upset and new cable is reeved through block-and-tackle system after which connecting link is removed and end of new cable is made fast. Preliminarily prepared end faces of new and worn cables are connected by welding. Preparation for weldings done by adjusting the cables to provide their perpendicularity relative to longitudinal axis with subsequent surfacing of end faces. According to second version, part of strands of new and worn out cables are cut out and loops are formed from non-cutout strands and cores of cable or from two non-cutout strands, and cables are connected by forming straight knot with subsequent upsetting of connecting link, thus formed. This done, new cable is reeved through block-and-tackle system, connecting link is removed and end of new cable is made fast. Prior to cutting out strands of new cable, strands are welded up on section before place of cutout. Third version of method differs from those described above in that all strands but one of new cable are cut out and loop is formed on new cable by welding end of one non-cut-out strand to molten end face of cutout strands. According to fourth to version, loop of steel wire is welded to prepared end face of new cable prior to connecting the cables and end face of new cable is prepared by adjusting to provide perpendicularity relative to longitudinal axis with subsequent surfacing. EFFECT: prevention of longitudinal displacement of strands relative to each other when reeving in new cable into block-and-tackle system. 9 cl, 6 dwg
