FIELD: mineral-based cation exchangers. SUBSTANCE: amorphous kaolin derivatives have high values of specific surface and cation exchange and 27Al NMR spectrum obtained during rotation under magic angle having dominant peak of about 55 ppm with respect to Al(H2O)3+6. Said derivatives are prepared by reacting kaolin mineral with reagent such as alkali metal or ammonium halogen derivative. This reaction leads to transformation of greater part of octaedrally coordinated aluminium in kaolin mineral into tetrahedrally coordinated aluminium. The resulting derivatives show high selectively with respect to metals: during cation exchange. EFFECT: improved properties of amorphous kaoline derivative. 17 cl, 8 dwg, 15 ex, 8 tbl
