FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in reduction of ratio of passes along one trace realized by means of tractor chassis with articulated framework. At least two wheels are secured at each side of framework to provide different gauges. Setting of wheels to different gauges is carried out in two steps, minimum. First step during which depth of rut is checked is trial one, and during second step wheels are installed at different gauge to form soil ridge whose width is found from equation: &Dgr;l = (h1+h2)tgϕ; where h1 is depth of rut after one pass of first wheel of one of chassis sides; h2 is depth of rut after one pass of second wheel of the same side of chassis; ϕ is inner friction angle of soil. EFFECT: reduced negative action of heavy wheeled tractors on soil. 3 dwg
