METHOD OF ASSAY OF PHOSPHOLIPID CONTENT IN BRAIN AND LIVER OF ANIMALS IN EXPERIMENT

FIELD: analytical biochemistry. SUBSTANCE: method involves the extraction of lipids from the biological material (tissue homogenate, suspension of subcellular organells and others) and their analysis. Tissue sediment obtained after lipid extraction is subjected for the solubilization by its incubation in 1% sodium dodecyl sulfate solution at 37 C for 12 h and then additionally for 30 min after addition of 6% NaOH. After sediment dissolving the protein content is determined by one of the known method. Concentration of phospholipids is calculated as a ratio of phospholipid mass to protein mass in tissue sediment. Method provides assay of phospholipids and protein in a single sample. EFFECT: precision method of assay.
