A novel inspection port (1) is set in an opening of a casing, especially the gear housing of a high- or medium-voltage unit. Its edges (6) fit outside and inside the opening. In new aspects of the design, at the outside edge, a sealing flange (8) surrounds the window (5), deriving support externally against the wall. At the inner edge, a clipping section (13) grips behind and inside the wall. This holds the front sealing flange tensioned against the outside of the wall.Preferred versions include clip-in mounting or spring clip retention, with an additional resilient sealing ring (15).
