Hydrostatic machine with strength - and flow an optimized control plate

The hydrostatic machine (1) may be used as a motor, and may be have a large number of cylinders (4) lying approximately parallel to the axis of the power output shaft (2). The pistons may act on a swashplate whose angle may be adjustable. The block (3), containing the cylinders, rotates with the shaft. There is a fixed plate (16) in sealing contact with the cylinder block, and there is an inlet line (18) for high-pressure hydraulic fluid and a low-pressure outlet line (17) connected respectively to inlet and outlet ports which extend over a considerable arc of the fixed plate. Curved vanes (31a-c....) in the inlet port impart swirl to the incoming fluid in the direction of rotation of the rotor. There are access apertures (12a,b....) through which fluid flows into and out of the cylinders. There are straight flow guide vanes (30a-d....) in these apertures. There are curved vanes (20a-c....) in the outlet port to remove the swirl.
