Copolymer additive used to improve melt spinning properties of polyethylene terephthalate

Use is claimed of a copolymer as additive at 0.1-5 wt.% to improve the melt spinning properties of polyethylene terephthalate, the copolymer being obtained by copolymerisation of (i) 30-90 wt.% Me methacrylate (MMA); (ii) 1-70 wt.% maleic or maleimide monomer of formula (I); and (iii) 0-50 wt.% comonomer which is alpha -Me styrene, vinyl acetate, a (meth)acrylic ester other than (i), vinyl(idene) chloride, styrene, halo-substituted styrene, a vinyl- or isopropenyl-ether or a diene. In (I), X = -O- or -NR1-; R1 = H, 1-8C alkyl, 3-8C cycloalkyl or 5-7C aryl; and R2 = H or Me.
