The cooling system has a cooling circuit (1) containing a pump (2) for circulation of the cooling medium (3), a cooling device (4) for removing heat from the cooling medium, a compensation vessel (5) and a number of cooled elements. The compensation vessel is positioned at the lowest point of the cooling circuit and has a free volume sufficient for receiving the volume of the cooling medium within the cooling circuit above the level of the compensation vessel.
