Chaotropic compounds (I) or topical cosmetic or dermatological compositions containing (I) are used for the protection of the skin against UV radiation. Use of one or more chaotropic compounds (I) or topical cosmetic or dermatological compositions containing (I) for the protection of the skin against UV radiation is new. An Independent claim is also included for topical cosmetic or dermatological compositions containing (I), UV filters (UVA and/or UVB) and/or inorganic pigments.
