The system has a receiver and evaluation electronic system mounted in a vehicle (5) with a receiver mounted on the vehicle and a transmitter (9,9') on the roadside for wireless communications with the receiver for transmitting a prohibition signal indicating a closed section of road or direction of travel and/or a road barrier. The vehicle system has an arrangement for generating an audible and/or visible signal and/or for stopping the vehicle when such a prohibition signal is received.
