Elementary heavy metals are separated from waste gas by scrubbing with oil which contains tar powder. Elementary heavy metals are separated from a waste gas by scrubbing with an oil which has a boiling point of 150-170 deg C and which contains 5-50 g/l tar powder of 50-300 microns average diameter.
