Aqueous pigment preparation includes a condensation product(s) based on: (i) sulfonated aromatics; (ii) aldehydes and/or ketones; and optionally (iii) a compound(s) other than sulfonated aromatics, urea and urea derivatives. Aqueous pigment preparation (I) comprises: (a) a pigment(s); (b) a condensation product(s) based on: (i) sulfonated aromatics; (ii) aldehydes and/or ketones; and optionally (iii) a compound(s) other than sulfonated aromatics, urea and urea derivatives; and (c) (c) a polyether polyol(s) of b.pt. above 150 deg C at normal pressure. Independent claims are included for the preparation of the above preparation by mixing the components with water and homogenizing, and preparations (II) containing a condensation product(s) based on 4,4'-dihydroxy diphenylsulfone, sulfonated ditolylether and formaldehyde, 4,4'-dihydroxy diphenylsulfone, phenol sulfonic acid and formaldehyde, 4,4'-dihydroxy diphenylsulfone, sodium bisulfite, urea and formaldehyde, naphthalene sulfonic acid, 4,4'-dihydroxy diphenylsulfone and formaldehyde, sulfonated terphenyl and formaldehyde, or sulfonated 2-hydroxybiphenyl and formaldehyde.
