Storage-stable water-based composition for controlling parasitic insects, especially fleas, on animals, e.g. livestock and pets

Composition for dermal control of parasitic insects on animals comprises (a) 1-20 wt.% of an insect nicotinergic acetylcholine receptor agonist or antagonist, (b) 2.5-15 wt.% water, (c) at least 20 wt.% of a solvent selected from alcohols and optionally substituted pyrrolidones, (d) 5-50 wt.% of a solvent selected from cyclic carbonates or lactones, and (e) optional additives selected from thickeners, spreaders, dyes, antioxidants, propellants, preservatives, stickers and emulsifiers.
