The modular power output stage has several output stage modules (1-3) with power adapted to each motor to be driven. The modules are mounted on a common cooling body or on individual cooling bodies forming a mounting plane and set for the different output stage power variants. Each power variant has spatially different contact arrangements (5-7) for coded contacting of at least the power contacts. An Independent claim is also included for a method of producing a modular power output stage
